For years, I was trying to be the perfect wife, perfect mom, perfect friend — the perfect everything. It nearly killed me. So one day, I threw up my hands and said, “I quit.” I traded in those unrealistic expectations for a promise to give myself the time and space to discover what I really wanted from my life.
A practice was born out of that promise. Stillness, journaling, and communicating directly with God ultimately saved my life.
This may not feel effortless for you. It seemed impossible to me at first. It seemed absurd to the people around me.
Sitting quietly for even two minutes? Don’t be ridiculous!
But you deserve to take this time for yourself. I know because I am you, and you are me.
We deserve this.
